Newsletter 23rd October 15

It has been a busy and exciting half term. Your children have worked really hard and are embracing the new more creative curriculum. ‘Heart Spaces’ (central areas for independent learning) are being used well to encourage children to take responsibility for their learning and use a range of resources. There have been some great ‘Stunning Starts’ to topics to engage children in their learning. Year 1 have been role playing detectives and looking for the culprit who took their class cuddly toys – after much investigation I was discovered to be the culprit! Thankfully the children are very forgiving and I even got a cuddly toy from one child to keep me company.

We are really pleased with the outcomes from last academic year and data that came out this week shows that in key stage 1 (Y2) we are significantly above national average for reading writing and maths, more able children also are performing significantly above national in all 3 subjects achieving well at the higher levels.  Our year 4 results were also significantly above local authority averages in all 3 subjects and again children achieving at the higher levels was significantly above local authority averages. I am so proud of how hard the staff have worked to achieve these results my thanks go to the teaching staff and higher level teaching assistants (HLTAs) for their dedication and commitment to ensuring that all children achieve their best and to all our teaching assistants who have supported teachers and HLTAs above and beyond in the classroom.

Have a restful half term – Kind regards

Mrs Lampard
