30th September Newsletter

Dear Parents,

As September draws to a close we begin to prepare for our Parent Teacher Consultations. This term these are being held on Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th October. Many of you have already booked your appointments, however if you still need to organise this please contact the school office, where staff will be happy to help. Your child’s work will be available at these sessions.

Reading Workshop
Many thanks to everyone who attended our recent Reading Workshop. Information from these sessions has now been added to our website.

Our Harvest Celebration will take place this Friday (3rd October) with all donated gifts being sent to the Need Project (Flitwick Food Bank). Our new School Council will lead us in our celebration and thanksgiving. May I thank you for your support and generosity.

Friendship Week
This week we are holding a Focus week around our value of Friendship. The children will be participating in a wide range of activities including friendship journals, friendship walls, stories and games; throughout the week.

Dinosaur Workshop
On Tuesday 7th October children in Year 3 will be participating in a special Dinosaur Workshop. During the session children will investigate different fossils and find out how many animals alive today have descended from the dinosaurs. I am sure this will be an inspiring and memorable experience for the children.

School Meals/Kitchen Upgrade
The Local Authority have organised for improvements to the ventilation system in the kitchen, to take place during the week beginning Monday 6th October. We are working hard to minimise any disruption to the school meals provision during that time. However it may be necessary to alter the menus at short notice due to the impact of this work on our cooking facilities. We will endeavour to minimise this, and all children who wish to, will receive a school meal throughout the week.

Operation Christmas Child
We are running our Operation Christmas Child Shoe Box Appeal once again this year. Details are enclosed in the attached leaflet. Please could all shoeboxes be brought to school by Monday 3rd November for collection. Many Thanks

If you have any concerns regarding your child please do not hesitate in contacting your child’s class teacher in the first instance.

Yours sincerely

L. Birch
