24th June Newsletter 14

Dear Parents,

As the summer term progresses thoughts begin to turn towards forward planning for next year. Within this letter is key information regarding those preparations.

Flitwick Carnival
May I take this opportunity to say a heartfelt thank you to all those parents who gave their time to help us prepare our float for the Flitwick Carnival. It really is greatly appreciated. Thank you also to the many parents and children who came out to support us as we passed in the parade. Everyone had a wonderful time. Many thanks

Many parents will be aware that Mr Orr has been absent from school for several weeks now. He has sadly been diagnosed with bowel cancer. He has undergone surgery and is currently recovering from this prior to starting some extensive chemotherapy. We have passed on everyone’s good wishes and he is both grateful and encouraged by these. We are all wishing him well and while it will take time, are expecting him to make a full recovery.

In the meantime Mrs Freeman will continue to teach his class; providing continuity and security for the children.

On a different note Mr Grint will be leaving us at the end of term to begin his retirement. Mr Grint has been a class teacher here at Templefield for eight years. He has made a wonderful contribution to the school and we shall be sad to see him leave. We do though wish him a very happy and well deserved retirement at the end of term.

On a happier note Mrs Prestedge will return to school on Monday 30th June, as her maternity leave has now ended.
We have appointed a new teacher Miss Morris, to join our Foundation Stage team from September. Miss Morris will cover Mr Orr’s absence, and will make a wonderful addition to the team.

Induction Evenings
We will be holding a series of induction meetings for the children throughout the school as follows:

Friday 4th July 1.30pm for parents of children entering Foundation Stage in September.

Mrs Bibby’s class are invited to stay at school until 2.30 and to bring a packed lunch on this day, as they will be spending the day with their new teacher in the Foundation unit.

Monday 7th July 6.30 – 7.30pm for parents of children beginning Y1 in September.

7.15 – 8.15pm for parents of children beginning Y2 in September.

Tuesday 8th July 6.30 – 7.30pm for parents of children beginning Y3/Y4 in September.

We very much look forward to seeing you then.

As always if you have any concerns regarding your child please do not hesitate in contacting your child’s class teacher in the first instance.
Yours sincerely

L. Birch
