This half term is already gathering great momentum as children and staff in KS2 rehearse for their forthcoming production of ‘The Keymaster’. This week we also have ‘Living Eggs’ in Foundation Stage, which we hope will very soon hatch into delightful baby chicks.
At this time of the year the weather can be unpredictable, bringing sudden bouts of very warm sunshine. We therefore request that children have a named sun hat and water bottle in school. We recommend that sun cream is applied at home before the start of the school day. If your child has particularly sun sensitive skin and a further application of cream is needed, then a named bottle of sun cream may be brought to your child’s class teacher. Staff will supervise children as they apply the cream themselves.
Our value for June is kindness and caring. Each class in Year groups 1 – 4 are working on a kindness project. They have chosen a group of people who will receive an act of kindness, and they have devised a range of ways to do this, as follows:
Mrs Rowe: Caring for the environment.
Mrs Thompson/Mrs Kemp: Toy sale in aid of Hand in Hand charity (children in Ethiopia).
Miss Ashfield: Decorating cups for the elderly for their cups of tea.
Mrs Bates: Raising money to buy food for the food bank by doing jobs for 10p.
Mr Grint: Party for children at Windmill Pre-School.
Miss Rawlings: Tea Party for the elderly.
Miss Walter: Games and fun activities for Foundation Stage
Miss Smithers: Appreciating adults who help us in the school community
We are holding an open morning on Thursday 19th June between 8.40 -9.30am and an open afternoon on Wednesday 18th June between 3pm – 3.30pm. These sessions provide an opportunity for parents to visit their child’s classroom and share their work together.
We look forward to seeing you then.
Many parents and children have been working hard on our float for the parade at the Flitwick Carnival. Our theme is Italy. I would like to thank everyone who has given their time to make this a success. The parade starts at the Rufus Centre at 11.15am (Saturday 14th June) and ends at Millenium Park.
All we need now is good weather!
