Issue No. 33 – January 2014
This edition of our newsletter comes with our very best wishes for a happy and healthy 2014. Also a very
warm welcome to the families of our new children in the Foundation Unit.
We have now held our first meeting of the year so can begin to provide you with important dates and
information about up and coming events.
New faces are always welcome at our committee meetings so if you fancy coming along, the next meeting
will take place on Tuesday 25th February at 7pm in the Staff Room.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your support
leading up to Christmas. It’s always a crazy time of year with so much going
on but your support for us never waned and the fundraising was quite
overwhelming! Our ever popular Christmas fayre raised a total of £1027,
the children’s disco parties made £630.22, sales from the Christmas cards
designed by the children brought in £583.58 and the Year 2 cake sale on the
last day of term raised £81.15 making a grand total of £2321.95 so a
massive thank you to you all.
HAVE YOU GOT…… any unwanted crockery at
home? We will happily take it off your hands and use
it for our plate smashing stall at the Summer Fete on
Saturday 5th July. Either bring it in to school or
speak to a member of the committee.
For the cake sale on Friday
14th February from 3.15pm we
are appealing to the Year 4
children and parents to make
or donate cakes which can be
brought to the school office in
We will be holding an Adult Quiz Night on Friday 28th March in the
school hall so book the date and the babysitter now!
* Teams to consist of up to 8 people *
* Bring your own Drinks *
* Sausage/Spring Roll and Chips Supper *

As a school we have agreed to take part in the Flitwick Carnival on Saturday
14th June. This will take a huge amount of planning and preparation, from
designing the float and costumes to making it all come together on the day! If
you would like to be part of the organising team please come along to the first
planning meeting on Monday 3rd February at 2.30pm.
Twice a year we have the opportunity to fill blue bags with unwanted clothes, belts,
handbags, shoes, bedding and soft toys. A bag will be sent home with each child
which can then be filled and returned on the morning of Wednesday 19th March.
Once collected from school the bags are weighed and we receive an amount of
money depending on the total weight collected. This is a great way of decluttering
whilst raising valuable funds for the school.
Instead of the Penny Mile that we have done in previous years, this year we
are giving all children the opportunity to enter our Easter Egg competition.
The printed template of an Easter egg will be sent home which can then be
decorated by colouring, collage or however the children would like to decorate
it. Entries will cost 50p and prizes will be available for the best entries!
