21st January Newsletter 14

Dear Parents,

2014 has certainly started well, here in school. The children have returned full of positive energy and enthusiasm for learning. The whole school enjoyed a performance of The Nutcracker from Arena Theatre Group, a lovely way to start the New Year. Our Year 1 children began their topic on the Circus with a fabulous workshop. The children learned many skills including juggling, trapeze, uni cycling and finished the day with amazing clown face paints.

In KS2 we were treated to a very informative assembly on the Rainforest from Miss Smithers class, one which both the children and parents enjoyed. On the same day we also sent a team to the Redborne Partnership Indoor Athletics Festival, where they came 4th the children worked well as a team and were a credit to our school. Well done to all of them.

Parking on School Premises and the Local Area
Please could I urge parents driving to school to use the facility at Tesco – Park n’ Stride. An increasing number of people are parking both in the car park and on the surrounding roads, where there are parking restrictions in place. This creates an obstruction making it difficult for the children (especially our smaller children, and those walking to and from school alone) to have clear visibility of the road and traffic.

This is also causing a problem for the residents in the immediate surrounding area to the school, and I would ask that we all access the school with due consideration for others.

May I thank all those parents who already support us in this by parking at Tesco, or walking to school when they can. It is our ultimate aim to prevent any form of accident and make our routes to school as safe as possible for children and families.

Need Project – Food Bank
Once again we would like to thank everyone who has made donations to the Food Bank. Representatives from the Need Project collected another full basket last week, and they were extremely grateful for our school community’s generosity. Many thanks

As always if you have any concerns regarding your child please do not hesitate in contacting your child’s class teacher in the first instance.
